Privacy policy
Last updated October 6, 2026. Daphne is operated by Dowling Development LLC, an Alabama limited liability company. This explains what Daphne collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have.
Information you give Daphne
- Account: your email address.
- Preferences: allergies, favorite and disliked foods, how you like to eat, weekly budget, meals per week, portions, cooking time, cleanup, equipment, cooking skills and your chosen store.
- Lists: the lists Daphne builds for you, items and meals you add, items you remove and why, and swaps you make.
- Pantry (when available on your plan): items you check off, the date, and estimates of how long they last.
- Recipes (when available on your plan): recipes you save, including names, servings, ingredients and notes.
Information created as you use Daphne
- Sign-in codes and sessions, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. Codes expire after 15 minutes; sessions after 30 days.
- Usage records: how many lists, adds and lookups you make and what they cost Daphne to run. These enforce daily limits and keep costs in check.
- Product scores Daphne computes are stored by product, not by person, and are shared across all users.
What Daphne doesn't collect
Daphne doesn't use your device location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers. It doesn't track you across other apps or websites, doesn't show ads, and doesn't sell or rent your information.
How it's used
To build and update your lists, remember your choices, track your pantry, keep the service secure, enforce limits, and fix problems. Daphne doesn't use your information for advertising.
Sharing with service providers
- Anthropic, PBC (AI): your preferences, including allergies and disliked foods, text you type to add items, and the ingredients of recipes you save, so it can plan meals and interpret your requests. Your email isn't sent. Daphne asks for your permission before sending anything.
- The Kroger Co. (product and store data): search terms, your store ID and zip codes you search. No information that identifies you.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting, database, email delivery): stores and processes all of the above on Daphne's behalf.
- Apple and RevenueCat, Inc. (subscriptions): if you subscribe, Apple handles payment. Daphne receives only your subscription status and dates, never your card or billing details.
Daphne may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of users or others.
Allergy information
Allergies can be sensitive health information. Daphne uses them only to filter products and plan meals, and shares them only with Anthropic for that purpose, with your permission.
How long it's kept
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your information is removed from Daphne's database immediately. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they're overwritten.
Your choices and rights
From your profile you can edit preferences, export all your data as CSV, and delete your account. You can also email us to ask what Daphne holds about you or to correct it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, and Daphne will honor them.
Children
Daphne isn't directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and it will be deleted.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Sign-in codes and sessions are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, but Daphne keeps what it holds to the minimum it needs.
Changes and contact
